Kostas Derekas was born in 1969 in Taskendi, Usbekistan from Greek parents. He came in Greece in 1976 and settled in Falani, Larissa until the age of 18. He came to Iraklio, Crete in 1987, where he studied cooking in The School of Tourism.
He got married and has been a permanent resident of Iraklio since then. Since 1991 he has been working in big hotels. He has been working as a cooking teacher since 1995, at the same school which he graduated from.
He is a member of the Cretan Chef’s Club and a member of the Greek Taste Academy.
